          • results and meet summary

Great job gang, I  am very excited  for the rest of the year it is going to be fun --you all rock!!  meet  summary below: The 2014 Hayward High school track season is off and running . Thursday 3-20-14 --the Canes loaded up the buses and made the 3 hour trek across the northern frozen snowy Wisconsin to Eagle River to take part in the 9 team  Northland PInes Indoor track invitational in their beau...tiful field house. It would prove to be a worth while long trek with the Canes performing well and setting  a new school record. The meet had many high lites as the Hurricanes 66 member team competed well against  some very good  track programs.  I am very proud of each of our kids that went and competed in the meet they represent themselves and our school  very very  well.   The most memorable event had to be the pole vault for the Canes...the night marked the return of boys pole vaulting to the Hayward track program and the first time ever for  Hayward  girls pole vaulting in a track meet. Coaches Teri Wilkie and Austin Graber did an excellent job preparing the kids to vault. The Lady Canes went first with sisters Lily and Claudia Duffy both clearing the opening height of 5' and also Anna St Catherine. Anna continued on to the next height of 6' to become the first ever  Girls pole vault Hayward high school record holder. It has to a great day when we set a NEW SCHOOL RECORD !!!!
In the boys vault  new comer Lane Deyo successfully completed  his first ever vaulting event by clearing a number of heights ending up at 7' 6" -excited to see the vaulting kids continue to improve and reach new heights as the season moves forward.     Coach Blaine Lee and his long, high , and  triple jumpers set some impressive marks for early in the season  which were not only personal best (PR) for the athletes but also landed  a number of all-time top ten marks.  Congrats to the freshman Dynamic duo twin Sisters Taylor and Gabby Snider in their first varsity track meet setting some very impressive and promising marks in jumps: Taylor triple jumping 31' 11"  to place second in the meet and claim the #4 spot in the all time top 10 list for Hayward track -great job then she threw a nice 31' 4.5" to place first in the girls JV shot put event --her twin sister Gabby was not to be out done landing an awesome long jump  of 16' 5.75" to place 3rd in the meet and the #3 spot on our top ten list -she then launched a impressive 32' 10" shot put toss to place 4th in the varsity shot put event --nice start by these two hard working ladies -I guess that their BFS weight lifting program they have been doing all school year is already starting to pay back -- other jumping high lites  freshman Keion Johnson going 18' 2.5" in the Long jump  and Jake Luedke triple jump of 39' 5 .25" both great early season jumps --- congrats to Blake Peterson, Brooks Walters, Miskwa Hall, Gabe Luedke, Anna St. Catherine,  for also landing jumps to place them in our all time top 10 list --great day and start to a great season in the jumps for the Hayward jumpers.. We had many runners perform well in the meet and a shout out to our hurdle crew that preformed well and looking very promising -Hannah Yanhke, McKenzie Tingo, Michael Braatz, and Devon kuykendall  ---
